PLSG Urges Public To Ignore Rumour On State Of Emergency
The Plateau government on Monday said there was not truth in the rumour that a state of emergency had been declared on the state.
The rumour that the Federal Government had imposed a State of Emergency on the Plateau following incessant violent killings in the state began in the afternoon and was everywhere by evening.
Using mobile phone short message services and phone calls, the rumour mongers circulated what they described as some big news, sending some areas of the city into mournful mood while some other areas were jubilant.
James Mannok, the Director of Press Affairs in the state, said in statement that the rumours were “mere wishful thoughts of people who do not wish the state well.
“The government is aware that people who do not wish the state well have been calling for a state of emergency as part of their agenda against the government and people of Plateau.
“Such people have been circulating the rumour that they have achieved their aim of forcing the Federal Government to impose a state of emergency on Plateau.
“We want to state that the rumours are actually what they are – rumours – and should be ignored by all.â€
Mannok advised members of the public to continue with their lawful activities and remain peaceful, law abiding and supportive to the government.
