Saraki Swears In 4 New Commissioners

Governor Bukola Saraki of Kwara State has sworn in four new commissioners and charged them not to  betray the trust the government and people had in them.

Saraki explained that the appointment was to fill in existing vacuums as the government tried to  wind down its activities.

The governor told the commissioners that his administration would not tolerate corruption, saying:  “It is incumbent on you to make prudence, transparency and accountability your watch words.”

He charged them to be proactive, lead by example and carry along staff members of their ministries  in all their undertakings.

“Furthermore, you must follow due process in all you do so that your actions can stand the test of  time,” he said.

Saraki implored them to avoid acts that could ruin the image of the government.

He urged all the new and serving political appointees in the state to remain strong in their belief  in the Kwara project.

The governor further urged them to be determined in the task of taking the state to a higher level.

The four commissioners are Mr. AbdulRazaq Atunwa, one-time finance commissioner who has been given  the portfolio back, Alhaji Kolo Mohammed, Alhaji Raji Atolagbe and Mr. Olabode Olayemi.

Responding on behalf of the commissioners, Atunwa expressed appreciation to the governor for the  confidence reposed in them.

He pledged that they would serve with integrity, loyalty and commitment to the Kwara project.

Speaking shortly after the swearing-in, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Saka Isau,  explained that some positions in the state executive council became vacant because some  commissioners resigned to compete in the April elections.

Apart from Atunwa’s posting, Isau said Kolo Mohammed would now be in charge of the ministry of  industry and cooperative while Atolagbe would man the energy ministry with Olayemi in charge of the  ministry of works and transport.

In a minor reshuffle, the former Commissioner for Works, Mr. Kola Shittu, was moved to the ministry  of housing and urban development while Alhaji Dele Abdulganiyu is now in charge of the agriculture  and natural resources ministry.
