Three accused, Alex Ibe Okoye, 55, Nwachukwu Sunday Emeka, 58, Godwin Anegbode Osoiye, 51, have been arraigned before an Ogudu Magistrate’s Court over N3.7 million fraud.

The police prosecutor, ASP Eyo Owai, docked them on a five-count charge of pretence, stealing and forgery with intent to defraud their victim of 33,000 litres of diesel.

The accused allegedly obtained 33,000 litres of diesel valued at N3.7 million from Mrs. Ogochukwu Uche and failed to pay.

They were also alleged to have forged a payment voucher for the sum of N3.7 million at Goddy Alive Ventures, 44B, Ikosi Road, Ketu, Lagos.

The offences are punishable under sections 516, 419,467, (2) and 468 of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.17, Vol.11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

When the charges were read to them, they pleaded not guilty and the trial magistrate, Mrs. Y.O. Aje Afunwa admitted them on bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety.

The magistrate directed that the surety must present evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State government and adjourned the case till 14 February, 2011.
