Voter Registration: Ndigbo Holds Stakeholders Meeting

The leader of Ndigbo in Mushin, Eze Peter Umeh, has asked all Igbo in Mushin, Lagos, Nigeria to go out and register in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

Eze Umeh made this call during a meeting he held with leaders of Ndigbo in Mushin to review the participation of Igbo in the exercise. In attendance were leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Igbo speaking community, market leaders and others.

Umeh told the participants that he summoned the meeting to get a comprehensive report on the participation of Igbo in the registration exercise, noting that earlier apprehensions over the exercise have given way to renewed hope that the April polls will be a success.

He called on stakeholders to go out and mobilize Igbo who have not registered to do so.

“The voter’s card is our right to participate in the election proper. We can only elect a leader of our choice if we have the card,” he stated.

Also speaking at the occasion, the traditional prime minister of Obi Ndigbo, Mushin chapter, Chief Sylvanus Chukwukadebia urged the Igbo to use the remaining days left for the exercise to register.

All those who spoke at the meeting emphasised the need to mobilize their relations to register quickly.

Pamphlets printed by the Obi Ndigbo were distributed at the occasion to awaken the consciousness of Igbo on the exercise.
