2 Docked For Alleged Cheating
Two men, Chijoke Oriay, 23 and Mohammed Surajo, 28, both of Angwan cement village in Abuja, were on Wednesday docked before an Abuja Magistrate’s Court charged with joint act, cheating and extortion.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Philip Appollos, told the court that one Chigozie Eze of 24, Zone II, Dutse Alhaji Village, Abuja, reported the two accused at the Life Camp Police Station on Jan. 24.
Appollus said the complainant claimed that on Jan. 17 the two accused jointly conspired and collected from him the sum of N1,090, a Sony digital camera worth N56,500 and a handset worth N4,000.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty and were granted bail by Magistrate Sadia Mayana in the sum of N20,000 each with two sureties in like sum.
Mayana also said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must have a decent and reasonable means of livelihood.
The case was adjourned to Feb 10 for further hearing.
