National Amateur League 1: COD Promise Gray Tough Game

City of David Football Club of Lagos COD have promised to give Gray Football Club of Ede, Osun State a tough game when both teams clash in the National Amateur 1 League this Saturday at the University of Lagos Sport Complex, Yaba.

COD, who lost 0-2 to Fountain of Ado-Ekiti last week in an away match are confident that they will put smile on the faces of their fans that will come out to support them on Saturday.

Following their disappointing outing in Ado-Ekiti last week, the Lagos-based team are in high spirits to give Gray FC a good run for their money in an encounter which promises to be explosive. Most of the players that trained on Tuesday at the University of Lagos Sports Complex were optimistic that they will defeat the Osun State team.

Coach of COD, Rolanson Odey is happy that his players responded very well to instructions during training. Odey said that anything short of victory will affect their position in the league. He therefore assured fans that the players are in good frame of mind for the encounter.

“We cannot afford to lose our next game against Gray FC. I want to assure our fans that COD will come out victorious on Saturday,” he said.

Secretary of COD, Victor Akinmoyo, urged the players to approach the game with all seriousness and win with a wide margin. He said the match will be a tough battle because their opponents were just relegated from professional league last season.

“Our players need to double their effort in order to achieve good result. The management is not happy with the outcome of our result in Ekiti State. The only way we can put smile on their faces is to win our next game against Gray,” he said.

Akinmoyo said they are not in Amateur 1 to make a number, but to secure a ticket for the Professional Division 1 comes next season.
