Party Primaries Free And Fair
Hon. Bolaji Yussuf Ayinla, representing Mushin Constituency 2, at the Lagos State House of Assembly recently refuted reports that his party imposed candidates
There reports that ACN, your party, is imposing candidates on the people, what can you say about that?
The issue of imposition of candidates on the people by ACN is not true. This isn’t true in the sense that there was election that was conducted and won by some people. All I want to tell them is that what the party leaders want for the people of the country is the best. They want the best for the state and they want to move this state forward.
Most people who are now crying foul are beneficiaries of this ‘imposition’ they are talking about. I am only appealing to those who think that they have not benefited from the primaries to calm down and work with the party and ensure that the ruling party in the country is defeated. It is better to be an ordinary member in a winning party than be a resident of a losing party.
Do you see party members decamping soon?
People cannot dump ACN. This is the only opposition party in the country. Instead of people dumping the party for another, more people are rather moving into ACN. Our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has done a lot in winning more states in the country; this has made more people to join the party throughout the country. By the time the election result would be released we shall all see that my party has moved in the right direction and the leaders have done the best thing for the party and for the country at large.
You are seeking for a third term in the House. What are your programmes for the people of your constituency ?
On the third time issue, it is even now strengthening my capacity as an experienced legislator. One, it is not about my constituency alone, the new legislators that are going to join us are going to tap from the wide experience and overseas courses that we have been able to achieve under this sixth Assembly. And my constituency should be expecting more state government infrastructures in term of road construction, hospital equipment, education and better things than what they got from me in the past.
