Poverty On The Increase

A motivational speaker, Mr. Damiloa Babalola, has disclosed that poverty is on the increase in Nigeria..

He disclosed this at the first youth empowerment forum hosted by City Mission Methodist Micro-finance Bank. According to him, poverty level in Nigeria presently has increased to 47 percent.

According to him, the youths can conquer this by acquiring skills and ideas. “Skill acquisition, as at today, is something that humans cannot do without. Examples are wood work, mechanic and trading.

“The main purpose of organizing this forum is to empower youths that have these skills and yet can not establish themselves. City Mission Methodist Micro-finance Bank Limited is ready to finance and help people with such skills.

“People who are leading the billionaires’ chart in the world today are those that have acquired skills or invented something. They are people like Bill Gates who invented Microsoft; Mark Zukerberg who invented facebook. These people are making cool money everyday,” he said.

Also speaking at the event, Bishop O.O. Babalola who was represented by Rev. O.E. Ogundumila, described the seminar as a life changer.

“The is the need to put urgent smiles in the face of youths, especially those who are unemployed.

“Many of our youths have graduated from higher institutions in the past 5-10 years without any specific work and they still depend on their families. The government of today is very insensitive to the yearning of our youths, especially those that have undergone strenuous training in our university system and have served the country meritoriously in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC),” Ogundumila stated.
