If the statement of the Technical Director of Athletics Federation, AFN, Sunday Bada, is anything to  go by, there are strong indications that the athletes who will dorn the colours of Nigeria in the  Maputo 2011 All African Games will go on foreign tour.

Bada said though the federation is preoccupied with how to pick the best athletes for the African  version of the Olympic Games, the federation hopes to expose the selected athletes to modern training   abroad before the commencement of the Games in September.

“We have plans to take the athletes who will represent the country at this year’s All African Games on  a training tour to expose and prepare them for the challenges of the championship.

“But the task at hand right now is how we’ll get the best athletes for the competition,” he said.

Bada, while speaking on brilaf.m, said he is optimistic that the country will surpass the record  achieved at the last Games held in Algiers 2007, adding that all hands would be on deck to ensure that  the programme lined up for the athletes’ preparation for the competition is judiciously executed.
