Police Probe Attack On Gallery Owner
The Police in Lagos have launched investigation into a botched attempt to kidnap an Ikeja-based artist, Princewill Henry O. popularly known as Americana by some unidentified men who stormed his arts gallery on 14, Ladipo Kuku Street, Ikeja, Lagos.
A source at the State Police Command disclosed that detectives have commenced investigation into how the men who came in a black Toyota car with registration number TZ262KJA entered the gallery and attempted to abduct Americana.
In his petition to the Police, Americana had alleged that some fierce-looking men came to his gallery on 2 February around 10.30 a.m and harassed his salesgirl, asking for Americana.
“On 3rd of February two of them repeated the visit. One of them, a hefty man rushed in and started asking: Are you Americana? I recognized the one sitting in the car (black Toyota) dishing out orders to the one inside my gallery to deal with me ruthlessly and that he should bundle me into the car. As I was trying to identify him, he said he is a policeman. He asked if I was ready to settle or be fired on the legs and be taken away.
“As they started pushing me out of my arts gallery, I shouted on top of my voice and this attracted my neighbours who came out to know what was happening. When they saw the people, they entered their car and zoomed off,†he stated.
The gallery owner also accused the men of stealing his 500 Euro and his Nokia phone.
