Adultery: Couple Sent To KirikiriSent

A 55 -year old man, Ignatius and his wife, Chioma have been remanded at the Kirikri Maximum Prisons,   Apapa Lagos Southwest Nigeria by the Cele Magistrate’s Court for two weeks for allegedly fighting  publicly over a lover.

Ignatius was alleged to have engaged in a fight with his wife after the wife reportedly accused him of  having an illicit affair with her younger sister, Uju, who lives with them at 50, Adesina Street  Ijeshatedo, Lagos State.

The presiding Magistrate Mrs. C. T. Adesola Ikpatti, also ordered Uju who caused the fight to  immediately pack out of their apartment while the couple will spend the next two weeks in prison for   fighting in public.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the couple was living peacefully until the wife brought Uju to live with them  with the consent of her husband. They are blessed with three children.

The relationship went sour when the wife started suspecting that her husband was dating her younger  sister and she confronted him but the man denied the allegation. But the woman did not believe him and  further accused him of not taking care of her and their children

The argument persisted until it resulted in both of them fighting publicly, thus disturbing the peace  of their neighbours until police arrested and took them to the station

They were charged to court on a two-count charge of fighting in a public place and causing the breach  of public peace.

The offence  is contrary to sections 83 and249 of the criminal code cap 38 laws of Lagos State of  Nigeria

They pleaded not guilty and the magistrate ordered that they should be remanded in prison  for two  weeks.
