The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr. Yakubu Alkali, has ordered the removal of all illegal structures around the command’s headquarters.
Command’s spokesman Samuel Jinadu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the measure was for security reasons following the spate of explosions in some parts of Nigeria.
“The removal of the illegal structures becomes necessary in view of security incidents in different parts of the country, including bomb explosions,†Jinadu said.
He explained that the commissioner gave the directive after inspecting facilities within and around the command’s headquarters and realised that the structures posed a security risk.
Jinadu said that apart from the removal of the structures, vehicles going into the premises of the command, including those owned by police personnel, would be thoroughly checked.
He also said that vehicles, including those of policemen, would no longer be allowed to be parked inside the premises.
He urged members of the public visiting the command headquarters to comply with the new directive as the measure was for the safety of all.
