‘Nigerians Should Save Judiciary’
Nigerians have been called upon to save the judiciary from retrogressive forces appointed by military men to adjudicate in the temple of justice.
Making this call in a statement, a maritime expert and life patron of Ondo-Ekiti Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Prince Olusegun Ologbese, appealed to traditional rulers and others to intervene in the feud between the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu and the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Isa Salami over the latter’s movement to the Supreme Court.
Prince Ologbese said this was necessary to ensure that the judiciary “is not destroyed and continued to remain as the last hope of the common man.”
He appealed to the two judges to meet in private and settle the feud between them. “The disagreement should die a premature death. Justice Salami should remain as the President of the Court of Appeal. Every comment on the issue should be discontinued in the interest of the judiciary,†he stated.
The maritime expert said it was necessary for all men of goodwill to save the judiciary because “there are some ill-minded men there who are bent on reverting the course of justice.”
