The police in Bida in Niger said it had recovered three vehicles believed to have been stolen fromÂ Bayelsa and arrested three persons in connection with the theft.
The Police Area Commander for Bida Command, ACP Ayo Olatunji, made this known to the News Agency ofÂ Nigeria (NAN) in an in interview in Bida, Niger, on Thursday.
He said that the police recovered the vehicles through curiosity after the alleged suspected armedÂ robbers displayed the vehicles for sale at a newly-established vehicle sales point.
Olatunji said that having suspected the existence of the new vehicle selling point in Bida, his menÂ beamed their search light on the owners of the place.
He said that eventually, they found out that the vehicles were allegedly stolen from Bayelsa.
The area commander said that the police had arrested three members, out which two were males while oneÂ was a female.
Olatunji said that the three suspected members were currently under-going interrogation and that theyÂ would soon be charged to court.
He said that the police had taken the stolen vehicles, two of which were Toyota corolla 2008 modelsÂ and one Honda Accord end of discussion model to their station.
According to him, the command has already contacted the police in Bayelsa to trace the owners of theÂ recovered vehicles.
The area commander, however, advised the general public to always report any suspected movement theyÂ noticed in their areas to the police.
