‘PDP Plots TO Destabilise Lagos’
The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has alerted Lagosians of the alleged plan by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to foment trouble in Lagos under the guise of holding a presidential rally.
The party alleged that top echelon of the PDP had perfected plans to import thugs from Oyo and some other states to cause trouble in Lagos during its presidential campaign rallies on 1 March and that President Goodluck Jonathan would spend three days in Lagos during which imported thugs would be used to cause mayhem and violence in the state.
A release issued and signed by the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the ACN, Joe Igbokwe, said the party warns the PDP that it risks sparking off the kind of social upheaval that was presently taking place in North Africa should it think it would be allowed to run roughshod over others on its way to an undeserved mandate in April.
It therefore warned Lagosians to be on alert to prevent any act taht might plunge the state into anarchy just to satisfy the bestial interests of the PDP.
“By now, every Nigerian should be aware of the fact that the PDP does not believe in fairness and equity and as such, can go to any length to foment crisis for its selfish benefits.
“We note that such orchestrated scheming has already started when President Goodluck Jonathan, frustrated at how the PDP has been trounced in the South-West and with fear that such rejection awaits him in April, threw decorum to the dogs by using careless and reckless adjective to describe our party in the South west.
“We know that was a precursor to launching war on the South-West in an effort to dislocate the peace of the region to pave way for a PDP that thrives in anarchy, confusion and fear as a way to gain undue advantage in a race that should be free and fair,†it stated.
When contacted, the Publicity Secretary, Lagos State PDP, Dr. Wale Ahmed said he was not aware of anybody planning to destabilise Lagos.
