A businesswoman, Mrs. Sekinat Adeleke, who resides on 7, Ifagboye Street, Baruwa, Ipaja, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, has dragged her husband, Mr. Ismail Adeleke, a carpenter before the Alimosho Customary Court, Lagos Nigeria, seeking the dissolution of the marriage.

Sekinat accused her husband of not taking care of her and the three children of the union. The businesswoman also accused her husband of trying to use her for ritual.

“On 28 January, 2010, I was very sick and sought spiritual help with an Alfa who told me that my hair had been shaved for ritual and that I may go mad or die very soon.

“On hearing this, I informed his brother who invited him for explanation. On getting home that day, he asked me what I told his brother and he started beating me. I had to pack out of his house that day,” the divorce-seeking woman told the court.

Responding to the allegations, Ismail denied beating her or shirking his responsibilities in the home. He also informed the court that he was not against the dissolution of the marriage.

Following this, the court dissolved the marriage and urged both parties to keep the peace.

On the custody of children of the dissolved union, the court gave temporary custody to the petitioner and referred the parties to the family court for final resolution on custody.
