NDLEA Monitors Politicians In Sokoto

Mohammad Idris, Sokoto State Commander of NDLEA, says it has drafted an operation order, to effectively monitor politicians in all political gatherings in the state.He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that the aim was to ensure that youths shunned all forms of drug abuse during campaigns.

Idris explained that officers and men of the command would supervise all political gatherings in the state, to prevent drug abuse among youths.

“We want to ensure that youths shun all forms of drugs during and after the campaigns,” he said.

Idris said the command would not tolerate any form of drug abuse among youths in the state.

“We are battle ready to carry out our constitutional responsibility to the best of our ability,” he said.

The Commander explained that already, religious leaders had been contacted to educate youths on the dangers of the menace.

“We are working like a family to achieve the set objectives for the common good of our people,” he said.

Idris called on stakeholders to fully participate in the fight against the social evil among the youth.

“As future leaders, we should prepare grounds for them to become responsible citizens of our great country,” he said.

The Commander called on parents to always monitor the conduct of their children, to prevent them from becoming drug addicts.
