Complete Abandoned Magistrate’s Court, Residents Beg Fashola
Residents of Epe have called on the Lagos State government to complete the abandoned magistrate’s court in Epe, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.
Some of the residents who spoke with P.M.NEWS said the reconstruction of the magistrate’s court, which commenced around 2009 has since been abandoned by the contractors handling the project. They pleaded that the governor should order the contractor to go back to the site and complete the building and save them from the harrowing experience they go through to attend court proceedings outside the town.
According to a resident who craved anonymity, “I don’t know why development and infrastructure are not extended to Epe town in spite of the dividends of democracy other residents are enjoying in all parts of Lagos State.
Checks revealed that the abandoned magistrate’s court was awarded to a contractor who in turn contracted it out to another company.
The latter was said to have engaged the services of sand and gravel suppliers but refused to pay them.
The aggrieved suppliers have thus prevented the contractor handling the project from coming near the site to complete the job.
Lagos Bulletin also gathered that, twice, the contractor attempted to start work at the site, but they were chased away by the sand suppliers. Residents have therefore, called on the Ministry of Justice to wade into the matter.
