Minister of Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission, NSC, Prof. Taoreed Adedoja, has challenged the secretaries of sports federations to either perform in their various jobs or face the wrath of the government.

Adedoja said during his tenure as Sports Minister, the federations would be given specific budgetary allocations to meet up with their programmes.

According to the Professor of Physical & Health Education, the era when scribes of sports federations complain of lack of fund to execute their programmes was over, as he would ensure that fund is  available to run their programmes.

Adedoja says the secretaries will now be judged based on the number of tournaments they organise yearly and how many sponsors they are able to secure for their programmes.

“My plan is to ensure that centralisation of budgetary allocation is abolished. The ministry would now disburse allocation to the federations on a monthly basis with clear cut programmes that would ensure accountability and transparency,” said Adedoja.

On the Games’ Village in Surulere, Lagos State,  Adedoja said the complex will be renovated to an international standard to become a complete sports edifice between now and May.

“After the renovation, each room in the Games’ Vaillage would be named after our heroes both the living and the departed. The Village itself will be named after one of our athltes,” he said.
