A former driver with Vitafoam Nigeria Ltd., Nojeem Faniyi, was on Wednesday arraigned in Lagos for allegedly stealing the company’s property, valued at N11.9 million.

Faniyi, 44, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy before Chief Magistrate, Mrs I.O. Akinkugbe, of the Igbosere Magistrates Court in Lagos.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Stephen Molo, said the accused, who worked at the Ikeja branch of the firm, with others at large, were to deliver 160 drums of chemicals and three laptops in a Hilux bus to the company.

Molo told the court that Faniyi and the others stole the items, including the Hilux bus, all valued at N11.9 million.

He said the accused committed the offence sometime in January.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Mrs Akinkugbe admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N2 million and adjourned the case till March 10 and March 17 for trial.
