His Royal Majesty, Oba Wahab Bello of Isheri will be among the dignitaries that will grace the opening match of the Balogun Cup tagged Oba Cup on Saturday at the Community Primary School, Isheri, Lagos State.
The opening match will be played between Olofin United of Isheri and Mega Stars Football Club of Igando.
Forty club across Lagos State are expected to take part in the one-month tourney sponsored by Oba Isheri, Balogun.
The Chairman Organising Committee, Babajide Stowe, confirmed to GSG that the sponsor and other traditional rulers in Alimosho Local Government will be among the invited guests at the opening match which promises to be an explosive encounter.
Stowe said the sponsor will not only declare the competition open but will also pray for its success.
“We are happy that the sponsor has invited his friends and other sports philanthropists in the council to grace the tourney. The opening match will be a memorable one because a lot of people are expected to come out to watch the opening game,†he said.
Stowe also urged the players and coaches to be good ambassadors of their clubs, saying that any player cause trouble during and after the match will be sanctioned accordingly.
“The competition is being sponsored by traditional ruler and we won’t condone hooliganism and other vices that can tarnish the image of the tourney,†he said.
