Funeral rites for the deceased former Super Eagles defender, Uche Okafor will begin today in his home state of Imo State, Nigeria.
The corpse of Okafor, who died in mysterious circumstances last month, was flown home on Tuesday and will lie in state at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
A commemorative football match between an Imo All Stars team and Okaforâ€™s former Eagles teammates will be played immediately after, before the body will be taken to his hometown; Ubomiri in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.
Eagles Chief Coach Samson Siasia is among the high-profile list of formerÂ national players, who will attend the burial. Others include Ben Iroha, Mutiu Adepoju, Alloy Agu, Austin Eguavoen, Daniel Amokachi, Ike Shorunmu, Alloy Agu and Victor Ikpeba.
