2 Poly Students Arrested For Theft
Two polytechnic students have been arrested by the police in Lagos for alleged theft.
The students, Solomon Ibiyemi, 24 of The Polytechnic, Ibadan and 23-year old Oladapo Babatunde of the Lagos State Polytechnic, Isolo were arrested after they allegedly stole N250,000 belonging to a cow dealer, Ahmed Ibiyemi, at Olabode Ojomu Street, off Governor Road, Ikotun, Lagos, South-West Nigeria, where Ahmed resides.
P.M.NEWS gathered from the victim that Solomon, who is his younger brother, stole the spare key to his apartment to carry out the theft.
On the day of the incident, Solomon and Oladapo were alleged to have sneaked into the house, stole the money and paid it into Oladapo’s account.
Ahmed said the money was for his business partners from the northern part of Nigeria who supplied him cows.
After the theft, the two students went away, thinking that nobody saw them. But a neighbour who saw them when they entered the house, informed Ahmed’s wife who later informed her husband when he returned from his trip.
Ahmed went to where he kept the money and discovered it missing. He raised an alarm and Solomon was arrested and taken to the Ikotun Police Station.
On interrogation, he confessed to the crime and revealed that he and Oladapo stole the money, adding that part of the money was still in Oladapo’s account.
Oladapo who had earlier denied stealing the money, was also arrested and he admitted participating in the crime.
After investigation, they were charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, where they are facing charges of conspiracy and stealing.
