6-3-3-4 Not Properly Implemented — LG Boss

The falling standard of education in the country has been blamed on improper implementation of the 6-3-3-4 system of education by the federal government.

Chairman, Lagos Mainland Local Government Area, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, Hon. Oladele Adekanye, made this remarks during this year’s Spelling Bee competition among primary school pupils in the area.

Adekanye explained that if the programme was duly implemented when it was introduced by the former Minister of Education, late Professor Babatunde Aliyu Fafunwa, standard of education would have improved beyond its current state.

According to him, “the federal Government is loosing track of 6-3-3-4 system of education. When it was introduced, it was good but its implementation was poor.

“It could have  been the best  system of education the country ever had if properly implemented, but it was poorly implemented and the federal government should do something about it.”

The council boss said his administration will not compromise giving good education to the pupils of the area.

Adekanye also commended former First Lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, for initiating the Spelling Bee competition, which he said has gone a long way in improving the standard of education in Lagos State.

Over 12,000 school bags and mathematical sets were given out to pupils in the area by the local government boss at the ceremony.
