ACN Moves To Curb Election Violence
Ahead of the April polls, the Oshodi-Isolo chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN is currently moving to ensure security in the area during the elections, and it has solicited the support of the police to ensure this.
Leadership of the party in Oshodi-Isolo recently embarked on a tour to see community leaders, traditional rulers, the police and others to create awareness of the need to ensure smooth polls devoid of violence.
The team, led by the Chairman, Oshodi-Isolo ACN, Alhaji Kasali Olamide visited the palace of the Ewu of Ewu Town, Oba Shakirudeen Kuti; Shogunle and Akinpelu Police Stations, traditional rulers and others.
At the Shogunle Police Station, Olamide appealed to the police to partner with the party to ensure smooth polls in the area, saying the support of the police was needed at this crucial period to maintain security.
The Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Mr. Johnny Adikaibe said the police would do its best to ensure peace and order during the elections in the area, adding that he was sure the elections would be free and fair.
At the Palace the Ewu of Ewu Town, the ACN Oshodi-Isolo Chairman solicited the support of the monarch for the party in the forthcoming election so that the party would win the elections in Lagos, especially in the Local Government.
According to him, the tour became necessary to solicit support from community leaders and others for the ACN at the polls.
“We are sure of victory and our party is a peaceful one and we are sure the elections will be peaceful. We are prepared to give Lagosians more of the dividends of democracy,†he said.
He, however, called for a symbiotic relationship between the ACN and the palace so that in the end, no one would be the loser.
