Apapa-Iganmu Residents Move To Recall Councillors
Residents of Apapa/Iganmu Local Council Development Area, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, have threatened to recall councillors representing them if they attempt to impeach the council chairman, Dr. Adesola Adedayo.
The residents had stormed the Sari Iganmu council secretariat in their numbers and prevented the councillors from entering the council premises.
Some of the residents that spoke with P.M.NEWS described the councillors’ move as anti-ACN and self-centred, who are only fighting the chairman for the selfish reasons.
Alhaji Anofi Okanlawon Balogun, an ACN leader from Ward B in the local council said, “the action of the councillors is unbelievable; there is no any reason why they cannot make the case known to we that elected them as our representatives before saying that they want to impeach the chairman. Though, we must disagree to agree, I do not see any reason why they should go behind to sabotage the effort of our chairman, this is a bad development.â€
Balogun satated that the chairman has not done anything wrong that would warrant impeachment. He advised the councillors and channel their grievances to the party leaders and make peace with the council chairman.
Chief Fatai Olubodun Jimoh, chairman, ward C, said the councillors behave as if they elected themselves to the office. He accused them of not doing anything in their wards and that they only hold the chairman to ransom any time they want money.
