Wife of the former Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu says she decided to contest for the Lagos Central Senatorial seat because of her desire to impact on the lives of the youths and women in the area.
Mrs. Tinubu spoke on Thursday at an event tagged: ‘Liberation Concert,’ with the theme, ‘My Agenda.’
The programme was put together by the All Christian Leaders/Ministers Forum, ACLMF, Lagos State Chapter at the Harvesting Faith Miracle auditorium, Lagos Island, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.
â€œFor years, Lagos has been viewed as the economic and commercial capital of Nigeria with over 17 million people living within its boundaries. This vibrant, active, hardworking and diverse society is made up of a majority of youth and women.
â€œThey will form part of the focus of my service as a senator when I represent Lagos Central Senatorial District.Â Our youths are restive and frustrated while our women are not adequately represented and encouraged to fulfill their potentials,â€ she stated.
She said for eight years, she supported her husband when he was governor of Lagos State and did her best to bring succour to the people through the establishment of the New Era Foundation, NEF â€œthat is still very much active in building the lives of the youths and strengthening families.â€
Mrs. Tinubu stated that she and her team recently embarked on tour of five local government areas within the senatorial district, saying that as she listened to the people, their needs were similar, which were free and qualitative education, jobs and good quality of life.
The areas she would focused on when she emerged as a senator were the environment, education.
