Igali Courts Sponsors For Nigeria Wrestling
Technical Director of Nigeria Wrestling Federation, NWF, Daniel Igali has challenged prospective sponsors to invest in wrestling, saying lack of sponsorship has drastically affected the development of the sport in the country.
Igali, who captained the Nigerian wrestling team to the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Canada, said: ” We need sponsors to help develop the sport in the country.
“If we really want to promote the sport, we must get prospective sponsors that will bankroll at least three to four local championships in a year.
“Not only that, sponsors should also be available to sponsor our athletes to international competitions abroad.”
He concluded that if there are sponsors, the sport will develop rapidly in the country.
Wrestling is one of the highly competitive sports with over 35 gold, 35 silver and 35 bronze medals at stake in international competitions, including the Olympic Games.
