The Attorney-General of Lagos State, Mr. Olasupo Shasore, SAN, yesterday arraigned a refuse truck disposal driver with the Lagos Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, Samuel Adeniyi, for driving on the Bus Rapid Transit Lite (BRT) corridor.
Samuel Adeniyi was arraigned before Magistrate Ogunsanya at the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court.
The charge read in the open court indicated that on or about 2February, 2011 at Palm-Groove Bus-stop, along Ikorodu Road, the defendant drove a refuse disposal truck No. 69 along Bus Rapid Transit Lite (BRT) Corridor and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 2 (2) of the Bus Rapid Transit Lite (BRT) regulation 2001. The offence is punishable under section 9(1) of the same regulation.
When the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded guilty to the charge. The matter was however adjourned till 9 March , 2011.
If convicted, the defendant is liable to one month imprisonment or fine of N25000 or both.
