The Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Ad-hoc Committee on Works and Infrastructure, Mr.  Dayo Fafunmi, has urged the state government to begin the grading of deplorable roads in Alimoso and Epe areas of the state.

He said the people of these areas have severally complained about the state of their roads as residents of Ayobo-Ipaja have especially protested the deplorable condition of their roads which become unusable during the rainy season.

While treating one of such petitions forwarded to his committee by the residents of Amule-Ashipa in Alimoso and Oriba Eleran Igbe in Epe, the lawmaker appealed to the residents to remain patient with the present administration, promising that all the deplorable roads in the state would soon be attended to.

“You know that the state government had embarked on rehabilitation and maintenance of roads by the Public Works Bureau and it is making frantic efforts to ensure that all roads are motorable in the state,” Fafunmi said.

The lawmaker also promised the petitioners that before the rains would end this year, their plight would be addressed.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Engineer Olokunola, had informed that the budget allocated to infrastructure is less than 10 per cent and according to him, this is making it difficult for the ministry to attend to and effect repairs of most roads in the state.

Olokunola assured the petitioners that the ministry would carry out temporary measures to ensure that the roads are graded to ease movement of motorists.
