‘Obasanjo-Daniel Imbroglio, Tragedy Of PDP Rule’

•Gov. Daniel of Ogun State (l) with former President Obasanjo.

A chieftain of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Kunle Ademoye, has said that the political scenario in Ogun State in which the Obasanjo and Daniel’s factions were locked in the desperate struggle to foist their separate lists of approved party candidates on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), portends a disturbing trend which should be a source of worry to every patriotic lover of the nation’s democracy.

The lawmaker, who is chairman, Committee on Housing, Lagos State House of Assembly, said that the development becomes particularly worrisome when it is considered that the prevailing state of anarchy and jungle politicking in that otherwise bastion of European civilisation, replicates a similar scenario in virtually all the PDP controlled states across the nation.

He particularly berated former President Olusegun Obasanjo, saying that the involvement of the soldier-turned politician in the unfolding mockery of democracy, has further accentuated the unbridled anti-democratic excesses of a man who was never known to have respected any court injunction throughout his chaotic and uncheering eight-year tenure.

He also came down hard on the state governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, whose era, according to him, was characterised with unbridled chaos, confusion and anarchy, coupled with violent legislative gag of the majority in unjustifiable favour of the minority and bizarre allegations and counter allegations of ear rending rituals and oath taking, whose horrendous dimension not only elicited popular opprobrium across the international community, but was also roundly condemned by the world renowned literary figure, Prof. Wole Soyinka, also a native of Ogun State.

Against this background, he warned the general body of the electorate of the danger it portends for their future and destiny should they make the mistake of voting for the PDP.

“I admonish each and every one of you to pitch tent with the ACN as it is the only party with the moral clout and commitment to liberate the masses from the shackle of poverty, neglect and oppression, in which they languish, under the PDP administration,” Ademoye expressed.

He corroborated this with the fact that the ACN leader, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, is a man of impeccable integrity, community builder and notable philanthropist, imbued with remarkable dynamism that converge to the making of an excellent leader and can, in no way, be compared with a senile spent force like Olurin, who has nothing practically to offer.

“That the ACN is peopled with progressive achievers and freedom fighters of such elevated class as Engr. Rauf Aregbesola in Osun State, Kayode Fayemi of ‘Radio Kudirat’ fame and Adams Oshiomhole, the number one labour veteran and, of course, the Lagos State governor, Barrister Babatude Fashola, whose achievements mark him out in conspicuously distinctive terms, is an eloquent justification for this call,” Ademoye stated further, adding that Tinubu’s ability to discover their talents and effectively integrate them for the crucial task of nation-building, marks him as an outstanding statesman of our time.
