Nigeria's Northern Group Explains Ouster Of Chairman

Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF has denied removing General Ibrahim Haruna as its Chairman for allegedly supporting President Goodluck Jonathan as reported by some national dailies today.

The National Publicity Secretary, Anthony Sani told P.M.News that the forum dissolved its EXCO to pave way for an election, which was conducted after the extra-ordinary meeting of the National executive Working Committee held yesterday, Wednesday, February 23 at its Sokoto Road office, Kaduna.

According to him, if there was any move against General IBM Haruna, he wouldn’t have been physically present to preside over the meeting and election.

“Haruna presided over the meeting that dissolved the NEC officers. He did not indicate his interest to re-contest for the post of the Chairmanship of NEC,  so I don’t know how the media reports came about.”  Sani said.
