Olofin United of Isheri-Olofin were at their best last Saturday when they defeated Megastars Football Club of Igando  1-0  in the ongoing Oba Wahab Ayinde Balogun Soccer Championshiop.

Sayo Idowu scored the lone goal that sealed victory for Olofin United in the first half of encounter watched by a  large crowd at the Community Primary School, Isheri, Alimosho Local Council Area.

The second half was a ding dung affair as both teams missed several chances before the centre referee blew the final whistle.

Olofin United Coach, Rasak Ahmed, expressed satisfaction with the performance of his team. He said if they can continue like this, they will go places in the tournament. He, however, charged his team to remain focus in their next game.

“We have started our opening match on a brighter note. This victory will spur my players to go for victory in their next game,” he said.

Megastars coach, Jide Kadiri, said his team would have won the match, but blamed bad officiating for the defeat. He commended his team’s performance. He wished he meet Olofin United again in the quarter final of the tourney.

“We are not happy with the outcome of the match. We are not comfortable with the officiating because our opponents are not better than us, and they don’t deserve to win the game. We will make sure that we win our remaining matches for us to qualify for the next  stage,” he said

Sponsor of the tournament, Oba Wahab Ayinde Balogun, said the competition has lived up to expectations and warned the participating teams to shun violence throughout the competition.
