Police Seal ACN Candidate’s Campaign Office

The Campaign Office of Dr. Abiye Sekibo, the governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Rivers, has been allegedly sealed by the police.

Sekibo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Wednesday that the office located at Tombia Street, GRA Phase II, Port Harcourt, was sealed at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

He alleged that Gov. Chibuike Amaechi ordered the police to close his campaign office.

“This is misuse and abuse of power aimed at hunting political opponents. No notice was given before the office was closed.

“We will formally write to INEC and all the security agencies to protest the closure of our campaign office,” Sekibo said.

The Director of Media and Publicity of Dr Sekibo’s Campaign Organisation, Mr Jerry Needam, said that policemen had taken over the campaign office of the CAN governorship candidate.

“The policemen here ( at the office) told us that they closed it on the orders of Gov. Chibuike Amaechi.

“Government is trying to intimidate its opponents in the election because we are aware that the owner of the building did not breach any levy or tax law.

“They want to put fears into landlords not to give us any property to rent as campaign office,” he said.

The Commissioner of Police in Rivers, Mr. Suleiman Abba, said he was not aware of the closure of Sekibo’s campaign office.
