An Ikeja Local Government Chairmanship aspirant, Moses Olasupo Adebayo David, has flayed local government administrations across the state, over what he termed the inability to complement the efforts of the state government in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.

Moses who said this during his visit to P.M.NEWS office recently, added that local government administration should be handed over to those who care about the welfare of the people.

“The time has come for what I term ‘sweeping change’ in Ikeja local government area. We have observed the rot and decay, mis-management and neglect that has become of this town. Save for the efforts of Governor Raji Fashola, the high street would have become derelict.

”Fellow people of Ikeja, past administrators/chairmen including the incumbent have neglected this town. Our roads are bad, there are no more libraries, primary health care is in bad state, our markets are glorified garbage centres, drainage system are the worst of any kind. The list is endless.

“In general quality of life no longer exist. The grassroots people who are mostly the ones that vote on election days have barely benefitted from the dividends of democracy,” he lamented.

He said that Ikeja local government is blessed with industrial estates, airport, high street, commercial centres, teaching hospital, abundant human resources, and to cap it all, the state secretariat is located in the heart of the town, yet the Ikeja local government authority cannot harness the opportunities to better the lives of the people.
