Akande, Tinubu Slam Jonathan Again
Leaders of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) have criticised President Goodluck Jonathan and his predecessor, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo over their inflammatory comments during Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rallies in Ibadan and Oyo town saying that the duo lack what it takes to lead Nigeria to the promised land.
One after the other, at the ancient Mapo Hall, Ibadan, during the flag-off of ACN governorship campaign, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the National Chairman of ACN, Chief Bisi Akande, former and present Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Raji Fashola (SAN), former Oyo State Governor, Lam Adesina, Osun State Governors, Rauf Aregbesola, respectively took the stage to variously condemne both President Jonathan and Obasanjo for taking Yoruba people for a ride.
Akande, described the statement by Jonathan that the South West could not be left in the hands of rascals as silly and unexpected of the president of a nation.Akande also slammed Obasanjo for his recent call on the people of the South-West not to leave the mainstream party.
Akande said the people of South West did not benefit anything tangible from the government of PDP for eight years of Obasanjo.
For Tinubu, Jonathan is an ungrateful individual who was deceitful in his successive political ascension to the Office of the President.
The former Lagos State governor berated the President for what he called an ‘uncouth’ statement and said it was unbecoming of a personality of the President.
Tinubu further described the statement of Jonathan on ACN as that of a drunkard, accusing the PDP led government of destroying the country in the last 12years.
Calling on the people of Nigeria to reject PDP with their votes at the forthcoming poll, considering the processes of the emergence of Jonathan as president, Tinubu stated that the President was a perfect example of a treacherous personality who betrayed his boss, late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua and lied to Nigerians that “in 2011, he would not mind becoming a Vice-President again to a Northerner if God made it so”
.Pointing out that the implication of the statement of Jonathan is that the people of South West are not well trained by their parents, Tinubu said, “We are not rascals, we are not bastards. He came here to abuse our parents; fathers and mothers alike. We are educated people. Jonathan is not the kind of person that we want as President of Nigeria. He is treacherous. He came here and called us rascals. We are rascals for progress, development and for all the good of our people”.
Adesina who referred to the president’s roots, noted, ”When did they start education and become civilized in their place where he comes from? Was it not our late sage, Obafemi Awolowo that took civilization to their area? In Yorubaland here, since 1854, we have been producing lawyers, doctors, professors and technocrats in all the fields of human endeavour. Use your votes to reject them, send them away. They have been ruling for the past 12 years, yet you don’t have good roads, no electricity, no water, unemployment is on the increase, insecurity gives room to kidnapping, no food on your table, it has been 12 years of deceit, lies and bad governance”.
While presenting Ajimobi as ACN governorship candidate in Oyo State, Tinubu assured that all the good things going on in Lagos State would be replicated in Ibadan and Oyo State in general in no distant time.
Aregbesola in his own remark said that the only way the people of South West could be free from afflictions and predicaments is to vote out PDP from the zone.
He said that people should not expect anything good from Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala since he has used the money of the state to bleach all his body.“What can a governor who is bleaching do for his people? Have you ever seen a serious person bleaching? How can a governor be bleaching? Shame onto them. Vote out bleaching governor and vote in a serous person that will help you transform Oyo State for better just like Lagosâ€.
Adesina however called on all and sundry in the state and other people in the South West to vote out PDP and vote in ACN.
Meanwhile Ajimobi vowed that he would not disappoint the people of Oyo State if voted in as governor stressing that his administration would be committed to developmental projects that would directly touch the lives of people especially those in the rural areas.
