‘Fiscal Federalism, State Police Top Our Agenda’

The serving overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly and running mate to Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential flagbearer of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has said that the issue of fiscal federalism and state police top his party’s agenda.

He stated this yesterday during his sermon (which was like a valedictory service because he will be away for some time to campaign for the April polls) in his church in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

He decried a situation where everything is concentrated at the centre, creating a lopsided arrangement where the Federal Government controls the revenue emanating from the states while it gives back crumbs to states that create the wealth.

He said the CPP government at the centre will ensure a return to the past where there is fiscal federalism in which case, resources in every state will be controlled by such state rather than the Federal Government hijacking everything as is the case now.

Pastor Bakare also said the creation of state police and community policing will receive the attention of the CPC-led Federal Government, adding that the issue of fiscal federalism and state police are among the most important issues in the CPC manifesto.

He said CPC will soon flag off its presidential campaign and promised that the impending presidential debate would reveal the stuff the Buhari/Bakare team, now dubbed the BB Team by the Latter Rain Assembly faithful, is made of.
