Actor Baba Ijesha Battles For Life
Top Yoruba actor and comedian Lanre Omiyinka popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has been involved in a ghastly auto accident.
The accident, which occurred late yesterday afternoon in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria claimed the life of a lady, while the actor lies in critical condition at the state Hospital, Ijaiye, with multiple neck injuries.
P.M.NEWS gathered that Baba Ijesha was on his way to the Ogun State capital to honour one of his colleagues, Mr. Latin, who was holding an anniversary party in Abeokuta.
He was in company of two other friends in his Toyota Camry saloon car.
According to sources, the accident occurred when the deceased lady named Surat Shonekan, 23, unconsciously strayed into the road while making a call on her phone.
“The woman was totally distracted by the phone call she was making that she didn’t see the oncoming car and Baba Ijesha too did not see her on time,†said a source.
The comedian, it was learnt, tried to avoid hitting her, but it was too late as he crushed the lady and the car later skidded into a bush. The car was badly damaged and he suffered injuries.
The Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. A. A Salako was said to have visited him at the hospital and instructed the medical personnel to ensure he was okay.
Further tests will be carried out today to ascertain if the neck injuries haven’t affected his spinal cord.
Meanwhile, the two other occupants of Baba Ijesha’s car escaped unhurt and the police have towed the car to their station.
