Commercial Bus Driver Docked For Manslaughter

A 32-year-old commercial bus driver, Timothy Agubueze was on Monday docked in Lagos for allegedly causing the death of one Quadri Ahmed.

Agubueze is facing a two-count charge of negligent driving and manslaughter before Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Layinka of the Igbosere Magistrates Court in Lagos.

According to the Prosecution, the offence was committed on Feb. 22, on the 3rd Mainland Bridge.

It said the bus driver wrongly parked his vehicle marked XV-505MUS in the night and without consideration for other road users.

“This negligent caused the death of one Ahmed of No. 58, Aroloya Str., Lagos Island,” the prosecution said.

The prosecution said that the deceased did not notice the wrongly- parked vehicle on time and ran into it.

It stated that the offence contravened Sections 29 and 39(4) of the Road Traffic Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge

The Magistrate granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till March 30 for mention.
