Man, 62, Faces Alleged Theft Of N600,000

A 62-year-old man, Tajudeen Dosunmu was on Monday charged before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court on a three- count offence of alleged house breaking, stealing and threat to life.

The prosecution alleged that the accused stole N610, 000 after he had broken into his neighbour’s apartment at 16, Olaore St., Mafoluku-Oshodi, Lagos.

Dosunmu, however, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of  N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Rachael Williams told the court that the accused broke into the apartment of Mr. Christopher Udo, a businessman, in the night and demanded for his money.

“A frightened Udo quickly pointed to a safe containing N610, 000.

“After collecting the money, the accused ordered Udo to vacate his apartment or risk being killed.

“But before Dosunmu could escape, he was rounded up by some sympathizers, who heard Udo’s distress call,” he said.
