A 47-year-old trader, Mariah Makinde, on Monday told an Abeokuta Customary Court Grade 1 in Ake that her husband, Isa, was impotent.

She informed the court that they had been married for 31 years with four children aged 30, 27, 24 and 20, respectively.

Makinde further told the court that she was in possession of the last two children, while the other two were already on their own.

She told the court that she had packed out of their matrimonial home for about two years because her husband could no longer satisfy her in bed.

“The man cannot do anything again; maybe it’s due to old age, I don’t know. I cannot bear it any longer; I just have to go, now,” she told the court.

Besides, Makinde added that her husband was irresponsible and had not been performing his matrimonial responsibilities.

She also claimed that she had been taking care of their children alone, saying that she was tired of the situation.
Makinde, whose estranged husband was not in court, therefore, pleaded with the court to terminate the 31-year-old union.

The President of the court, Mrs. Christiana Olaleye, frowned at Isa’s absence in spite of hearing notices issued to him.

Olaleye, who ordered that another notice be given to the woman’s husband, adjourned the case till March 7, for further hearing.
