Sports journalists and airport correspondents who had besieged the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, Nigeria last night to welcome the dejected home-based Super Eagles, received the shock of their lives as both the players and coaches refused to respond to their questions.
The Eagles could not take part in the botched Green Bowl Soccer Tournament in the United States of America, USA.
Apparently miffed by the aborted Obama Cup, which was supposed to kick off at the weekend, the players were disappointed over their inability to use the competition to showcase their talents to the Chief Coach of the Eagles, Samson Siasia, who wanted to use the tourney to assess the players.
Journalists who approached Heartland FC defender, ThankGod Ibenegbu received a cold shoulder from the player, while others deliberately shied away from the lenses of photographers.
