‘We’re Solidly Behind Daniel’

Otunba Gbenga Daniel

Some candidates of the Ogun State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, whose names were removed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, have pledged their loyalty to the governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

In a statement signed by their spokesmen,Yinka Kotoye and Bimbo Olajonlu, the candidates said they remained inseparable from Otunba Daniel.

”No force, either externally or internally, can separate us. Having been duly elected by members of our party, it is disturbing and disheartening to discover that INEC has taken sides and has allowed itself to be used by some disgruntled persons in the state by refusing to release our names (26 members) despite the fact that the names were submitted to it by the National Executive Committee of the PDP,” they stated.

The aggrieved candidates vowed to fight it out with the self-acclaimed champion of Ogun State politics who single-handedly used the judiciary to turn down the will of the majority of members of the party in Ogun State.

The group also said there was nothing in Ogun State called “OGD led faction.”

“There is only one authentic executive of the party in the state and it is led by Chief Joju Fadairo. The executive has been vindicated by the judgment of the Ogun State High Court in suit No. AB/166/2010. We are sure that justice will be done and we shall emerge victorious,” the group concluded.
