ACN Accuses Amaechi Of Frustrating Sekibo

The Action Congress of Nigeria in Rivers State has accused the PDP led government frustrating the campaigns of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) gubernatorial candidate, Dr Abiye Sekibo.

The party accused the Rivers state governor, Chibuike Amaechi of instructing all government institutions to deny Sekibo facilities for campaign rallies.

According, to ACN in a statement endorsed by Jerry Needam, “The governor has also directed all local government chairmen in the state to make sure they do not allow the ACN hold a rally in their domain”

“Our intelligent source, who was privy to a stakeholders meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, held on Tuesday evening at the Government House, Port Harcourt hinted us that the directive by the governor also asked the council chairmen to forthwith close all the campaign offices of Dr Abiye Sekibo and all the ACN offices in their respective LGAs, citing non payment of tenement rates”.

“They should pay a total sum of N7m in each of their campaign offices in all the 23 LGAs before they are allowed to operate from any of them. The chairmen should as well go to any magistrate court nearer to them and procure an interim order to seal their campaign offices”, the party alleged.

The party claimed that the Eleme local government council has in obedience to the governor’s directives sealed up the ACN office in that area council, a week after the campaign office of Dr Abiye Sekibo the ACN Governorship candidate was closed down on the orders of Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

However, Blessing Wikina,the Acting Chief Press Secretary to Governor Amaechi described the allegations as “not only frivolous but unserious.

This people are not serious. Up till now, they have not started any campaign in any of the local governments and they are just complaining and looking for how to blackmail the Governor.

Who has stopped ACN from at least campaigning in Okrika,the home of their candidate

.“The Governor threw a challenge to their candidate to tell Rivers people what project he did for his people in Okrika as The Secretary to the State Government, SSG, and as Transport Minister in Nigeria. The party has not answered.Ameachi is going to each local government announcing projects his government has executed and asking the people to confirm the projects exist”

Wikina advised ACN to face issues and stop blackmailing the Governor because of the reality starring them in the face.
