Apapa-Iganmu LCDA Crisis: Lagos ACN Suspends Leader, Vice Chairman
The Lagos State chapter of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has suspended the Vice Chairman and Leader of Legislative arm of Apapa/Iganmu Local Council Development Area, Lagos State, southwest, Nigeria.
The party accused both the Vice Chairman, Alhaja Funmilayo Mohammed and Mr. Ganiu Olatunbosun Bello, leader of the legislative arm of the council, of insubordination, gross misconduct and anti-party activities.
In a letter titled RE: Unlawful Impeachment of Apapa-Iganmu LCDA Chairman, Letter of Suspension from the Party, signed by Otunba Henry Oladele Ajomale, the state chairman of the party and issued to the suspended vice chairman and the leader of the legislative the ACN stated that, “following your high-handedness and ignoble played by you with regards to the unlawful impeachment of Apapa-Iganmu LCDA chairman, on Thursday 17 February, 2011, (which later led to the illegal swearing in of Alhaja Funmilayo Mohammed as the council chairman and Mr. Ganiu Olatunbosun Bello as vice chairman), I write to formally confirm your suspension from the party with immediate effect.
“It is on record that all entreaties by the party leaders to resolve the lingering crisis in the LCDA in order to bring peace to the area fell on deaf ears.
“To this end, your continued insubordination, gross-misconduct, and anti-party activities has therefore necessitated the party to place you on a month’s suspension after which your future membership will be decided based on your change of attitude and character in accordance with Article 9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 9.6 and 9.7 of the constitution the party.â€
