The central Executive of the Lagos State Pools Agents Association, LASPAA, has threatened to call on pools agents in the state not to vote for the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the gubernatorial election next month.

The grouse of the agents is that they have not received any dividends of democracy from Governor Babatunde Fashola since he assumed power four years ago.

The president of the association said that instead of dividends of democracy from the state government what his association got is nonchalance of the government officials to the agents’ demand from the Governor.

“It is rather sad that we got to the situation of threatening not to vote for Governor Fashola in the coming election. Though he has done a lot to change the life of Lagosians, but it is unfortunate that pools agents in Lagos have not got anything from the government,” said the retired Army Major and president of LASPAA.

“We wrote to the Governor a long time ago on some demands which will not only benefit pools agents; both the promoters and the government will reap from a sanitised pools business if the proposal we wrote to Fashola is attended to and implemented.

“The office of the Governor and the Chief of Staff received our letter and Fashola gave directive for some of his aides to do something on it few months ago, but up till this moment, nothing has happened. The officials have even refused to take our calls.

“The way the officials of the state government are treating our proposal is not good. My association is facing a lot of frustration, which is affecting the business. There are some pools promoters who are working against agents’ interest of a stabilised pools industry in Lagos.

“Fashola’s quick intervention is urgently needed so that my members will be out of hunger, pains and frustration. The leadership of pools agents are tired of excuses by the government officials on the proposal we sent to the Governor.
