LAWMA Bags FG’s Award For Waste Management
Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), has bagged an award of execellence following its outstanding achievement in the creation of wealth through solid waste management.
Organised to reward outstanding performance in environmental management, the award was put together by the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.
Receiving the award, the Managing Director of the agency, Mr. Ola Oresanya, said the “waste to wealth’ programme of the state government was aimed at creating wealth and enhancing the environment.
According to him, the core objective of the programme is to harness a new line of economic activities with the interested parties providing enabling environment for the management of resources discarded in waste materials through transformation, reuse and redistribution.
He said LAWMa has since commenced the production of inorganic fertiliser (compost) from market waste as well as the processing of ‘pure water’
