Makinde Warns Politicians
Nigerian leaders, especially members of the political class, have been warned against approaching the courts to file frivolous injunctions which may derail our democracy.
Dr. Sunday Ola Makinde, the Prelate of the Methodist Church, Nigeria, gave the warning while speaking with newsmen at the dedication and commissioning of the New Wesley Cathedral, Olowogbowo, Lagos, southwest Nigeria recently.
Makinde also urged the electorate to troop out en masse and vote for credible candidates that would better their lot in terms of dividends of democracy.
At the event, which was performed by the Dr. Makinde, Governor Babatunde Fashola and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the cleric berated greedy politicians whose preoccupation is to feather their nests at the detriment of the masses that voted them into power.
Governor Fashola, while speaking at the event, urged the audience to renew their pledge and vote for him and his party for a second term in the April 2011 elections, to better improve socio-economic infrastructure of a mega city, the church, the society and the nation.
