Meet Febisola, The Queen Of Abuja

Queen Febisola

Febisola Moyin Ogundare is the currently the Queen of Abuja, a coveted crown she won amid pomp and ceremony last year. Born on 10 December, 1988, this Mass Communication student of NTA TV College, Jos, is a very lively girl to be with. In this chat with Campus Square, the Ondo State-born queen tells about her life.

What are your hobbies?
I love watching television programmes.

Your likes?
I like talking to people; I mean productive discussion and getting to know more about people.

Dislikes?
I feel very uncomfortable among people that gossip, so I try as much as possible to avoid them.

What turns you off in people?
The act of pretence. I hate people that pretend with a passion.

What turns you on in people?
I love humble people.

How can you describe yourself?
I am incredibly dependable. I don’t say yes when I mean to say no. I always want people to take me for my words.

What is your favourite colour?
It is sky blue.

What about your favourite food?
I don’t joke with my Amala and Ewedu soup. Irrespective of my status as a queen, Amala and Ewedu remain my best food, and I can say it anywhere.

Favourite car?
Honda Element.

Do you have any bad habit?
Yes, I eat from the pot while still cooking.

Who or what inspires you most?
Inspiration comes when I find happy people around me, people that share my dreams and aspiration.

What can be done to improve your smile?
All you need to do is trust me. It makes me happy.

How did you get to know about the Queen of Abuja pageant?
I got to know about it through television advertisement.

What made you to participate in the contest?
It was my passion to make a change among youths in the society. I felt I could easily achieve that with a name on such platform.

What was your parents reaction to it?
They had no problem with it. They were comfortable with it. I give them kudos.

What was your reaction when you were announced the winner?
I felt great, it was so unbelievable. It’s one of the most wonderful moments of my life.

What has the pageant changed in you?
Nothing really, just that I learnt to be friendly and more environment conscious.

How is your daily routine?
It’s full of fun and life.

What are your challenges as a beauty queen and a student?
There are really no challenges because I was a student in the same school before I won the crown. So I still keep the school mates that I used to know; and at times, they remind me that I am a beauty queen.

What has been the biggest disappointment in your life?
I featured in a music video and I ended up not liking it.

Tell us about your goals and dreams?
I’m actually planning to revive the dying reading culture among children. We have been doing some programmes towards achieving this.

What is your favourite fashion appearance?
Sometimes my mood dictates what I wear.

Does the pageant have any influence on your studies?
Not at all.

What do you like most about yourself?
My smile.

How have you been able to cope with being a student and Queen Abuja?
It has been easy all the way, by the grace of God and the good people around me.

Who has the greatest influence in your life?
My mum, she is also the most important person in my life. She has been so dear all through.

What is your take on premarital sex?
Abstinence

Who is your role model?
In the movie industry, I like Stephanie Okereke because she is intelligent and  hardworking, and she promotes womanhood.

Where do you see yourself in a couple of years?
At the top of my career and raising a home; I mean a very good home and happy home.

At the end of life, what do you want to be happy about?
Success in my career and marriage, which is the bedrock of success.

If you were to choose between beauty and intelligence, which would you choose?
I would rather be intelligent because it is the inner beauty that speaks better.

Would you like to hold any political position in the nearest future?
Yes! An ambassador that will propagate the good fight of gender equality.
