Pastor (Mrs.) Folu Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has decried the win at all costs syndrome in Nigerian sports, saying the attitude will not get the country anywhere.

Mrs. Adeboye while speaking at the Dove Golden Belt Summit and Tournament organised to celebrate the 69th birthday of Pastor Adeboye by the Lagos State government and the RCCG at the Redeemed Camp, Km 46 Lagos-Ibadan Expressway yesterday,  said that winning in sports should be based on truth and transparency on the part of the athletes, officials and administrators.

She noted that age cheats and doping are all forms of cheating that athletes and officials must guard against to restore the lost glory of sports in the country.

According to the cleric, stakeholders in Nigerian sports should be guided by the fear of God. “With this, I believe the revival we need in Nigerian sports will happen.”

She commended the organisers of the summit and the boxing tournament which ends today.  “I commend the efforts of Prince Wale Oladunjoye, the Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development to Governor Raji Fashola for partnering with the Redeemed Church to put this show together.

“Pastor Adeboye, as the Spiritual Leader of the Nigerian sports family has the vision of seeing that sports is taken to a greater height in the country,” she said.
